Performance: A Trip Back to 2005

Our immensely talented second-year students treated the audience at Capstone Theatre to a double serving of music from the year 2005. The performance explored a variety of genres, featuring iconic tracks from world-renowned artists like Foo Fighters, Mary J. Blige, Coldplay, and many more.
A total of 15 bands took to the stage, demonstrating their ability to collaborate, combine their diverse musical talents, and gain valuable experience in engaging a crowd between performances. The show was entirely built from the ground up by our students, including everything from lighting and staging to production, all designed to bring the spirit of 2005 to life.
‘The 2005 performance was one of my favourite projects yet, we were a tribute to a band called Sleater-Kinney, their stage presence can be jarring at times, and their music is political. This enabled me to portray a character that would fit onto their stage. I loved the challenge of playing someone else, matching their mannerisms and putting on a performance they would be proud of. I feel like now I can try any genre from punk to soul, and feel natural performing it.’ Leah Lawley – Year 2 Music & Production Student (below)
Our audience was transported through time, thanks to our students' incredible ability to resurrect the sounds of 2005 with electrifying tribute performances.
