Performance: Spring Dance Show

First- and second-year students delivered a spectacular performance at their Spring Dance Showcase. The event was a true extravaganza, exploring diverse themes, moments in time, and even highlighting global issues like climate change.

As part of their assessment, students researched the themes behind their dances and worked closely with tutors and choreographers to bring these performances to life. They incorporated a variety of dance styles, including jazz, ballet, contemporary, hip-hop, and commercial dance.

One of our second-year dance students, Maisie Paton, found the project to be a positive factor in her learning and development, ‘I enjoyed the rehearsal process for our dance showcase as it was a collaborative approach with my peers and the teachers, so I was able to contribute to the choreography. We improved our level of professionalism by working with the technical theatre team and our tutors supported us throughout the process allowing us to perform successfully in our shows.’

Each performance was dynamic, and a testament to the students' talent and dedication to the art of dance. Through this experience, they not only gained invaluable stage experience but also honed their technical and creative dance skills, while integrating research, analytical, and evaluative abilities.
