Industry award for ex-student
A former LIPA Sixth Form College (LSFC) student has been named as one of two Outstanding Performers after completing a music industry Creative Entrepreneur Programme.
Jenuelle Na-Oy, who left LSFC in 2020, was one of 100 students to take part in the scheme run by knowledge company Music Ally, supported by Youth Music. As part of the seven-month online programme Jenuelle was paired with Leeds-based artist TIPS and created a 12-month plan for their future releases. It was this work that got Jenuelle the Outstanding Performer award.
After winning the prize Jenuelle worked with Music Ally on creating educational resources for other young people looking to find out more about the music industry. She’s now studying BA (Hons) Management of Music, Entertainment, Theatre & Events at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. Her ambition is to work in the music industry but she is open to what role to pursue. “I’m still in that period where I want to learn as much as I can before I decide what I want to do.
“My biggest issue with the music industry is that musicians aren’t getting paid as well as they could be, so I’d like to work in a role that improves income streams for artists.”
Music Ally launched its Creative Entrepreneur Programme in early 2020. Supported by charity Youth Music, it aims to give skills and support to young people in the UK between 18 – 25 who want to understand how the modern music industry works.
