LIPA Primary School wants to extend age range
The LIPA Primary School is proposing to extend the age range of children it teaches, and we want to hear what people think of our plans during our public consultation period from 2nd September to 1st October.
Currently serving reception to year 6, LIPA Primary School is planning to add years 7 and 8 for September 2021.
LIPA Primary School is part of the LIPA Learning Group which also comprises of a higher education institute and a sixth form college.
Our project-based approach to education has proved successful. Our primary school was rated as ‘Good’ by OFSTED in 2017, our sixth form as ‘Outstanding’ in 2019 and learning at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts received a TEF Gold Award in 2017.
At present though we are unable to provide education for children aged 11 to 16. Extending the age range at LIPA Primary School will allow us to start to bridge the gap between primary and sixth form college while we continue with plans to open a secondary school.
It means pupils at our primary school who were due to leave us in 2021 can continue, while others can join us to experience what we offer. Our admissions policy is simple, open and reaches out to our locality and wider region while remaining fully inclusive. This will remain the case for all years.
We aim to have our secondary school open by the time youngsters finish year 8. If we need more time, we will apply to extend the sixth form to cover upper school years 9 to 11.
If given the go-ahead, we will recruit staff with secondary school expertise to ensure a solid high school experience. Pupils in years 7 and 8 will receive the full key stage 3 subject curriculum as part of a broad-based curriculum informed by the creative and performing arts.
We believe there is support to make these changes. For a few years now parents and guardians of children at our primary school have been asking ‘what next?’ but we’d like to hear from local people too. From 2 September we will be holding a month-long public consultation on our proposals. More details of our plans are available in the download below, where you can also access an online survey.
